Softball Recap: Bishop Ludden Gaelic Knights vs. Port Byron Panthers
Bishop Ludden had lost five straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 0-10-1 to make it six. They came up short against the Port Byron Panthers, falling 14-4. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-0 on Monday.
As for Port Byron, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 16-2. Considering they have won ten contests by more than eight runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
For Port Byron's part, Jenna Jump was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Jump has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Bethany Jump was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and one stolen base. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Mallory Mills was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Bishop Ludden does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Port Byron, they will welcome Lyons at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
