Basketball Recap: Churchill County Greenwave vs. Spring Creek Spartans
The Churchill County Greenwave can now show off nine landslide victories after their most recent game on Saturday. They were the clear victor by a 46-25 margin over Spring Creek. The win was familiar territory for Churchill County who now have three in a row.
Churchill County found their leader in underclassman Jada Anastasio, who scored 21 points along with six steals and five rebounds. That makes it six consecutive games in which Anastasio has scored at least a third of Churchill County's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Janessa Bettencourt, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Churchill County has been performing well recently as they've won 13 of their last 16 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season. As for Spring Creek, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last ten matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Churchill County will take on the Buckaroos at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Lowry is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 56 points per game this season. As for Spring Creek, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Dust Devils at 6:00 p.m. on February 2nd. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Nevada (Dayton is ranked 62nd, while the Spartans are ranked 56th).
