Softball Recap: Morris Catholic Has No Trouble Against Wallington

While Morris Catholic put up some runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for Wallington. The Crusaders put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 7-0 win.

Sofia Reisinger made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 16 over seven innings pitched. Those 16 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emma Carnivale, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. Gia Bonsignore was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI.

Morris Catholic kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits every time they've taken the field this season.

Morris Catholic now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Wallington, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Morris Catholic will take on Bayonne at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Wallington, they will challenge Garfield at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers are facing the Boilermakers at the right time seeing as the Boilermakers are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
