Volleyball Recap: Weir Red Riders vs. Linsly Cadets
After flying high against Toronto last Tuesday, Weir came back down to earth. The Weir Red Riders took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Linsly Cadets on Thursday. The Red Riders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cadets apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2023.
While Weir had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 19 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 25-19, 22-25, 25-19.
Even though they lost, Weir was lethal from the service line and finished the game with ten aces. That's the most aces they've posted in their last four games.
The loss snapped Weir's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 8-6 record. As for Linsly, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 12-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Weir will host Catholic Central at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both are at an even 5-5 against one another since September of 2019, but likely not for long. As for Linsly, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against University at 6:00 p.m.
