Softball Game Preview: Kennard-Dale Rams vs. Big Spring Bulldogs

Kennard-Dale has won four straight games at home, while Big Spring has won four straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Thursday. The Rams will host the Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. Kennard-Dale is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.3 runs per game this season.

On Monday, Kennard-Dale sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 win over Fleetwood.

Taryn Ashenfelter spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on six hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Kennard-Dale saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lilliana Fleming, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI. Elaina Zabkowski also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Meanwhile, Big Spring got the win against Hamburg on Monday by a conclusive 15-7. Considering the Bulldogs have won 12 contests by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Kennard-Dale's victory bumped their record up to 20-3. As for Big Spring, their win bumped their record up to 17-4.

Kennard-Dale came out on top in a nail-biter against Big Spring in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, sneaking past 4-2. Will the Rams repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
