Basketball Recap: Highlands Christian Takes a Loss

Highlands Christian lost against Jupiter Christian back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Highlands Christian Knights fell just short of the Jupiter Christian Eagles by a score of 62-60. The Knights have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Highlands Christian still got an impressive performance from Angel Scomparin, who posted 23 points and three steals. The match was Scomparin's 19th in a row with at least ten points. Josh Esch was another key player, going 5 of 9 en route to 11 points and six boards.

Even though they lost, Highlands Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jupiter Christian only pulled down seven offensive rebounds.

Jupiter Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Matthew Barrett led the charge by dropping a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds. Barrett is crushing it when it comes to boards: he's pulled down at least nine every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Rivera, who went 8 for 13 on his way to 20 points.

Highlands Christian's loss dropped their record down to 8-13. As for Jupiter Christian, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-7.

Highlands Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 95-58 win against Sports Leadership & Management on the 23rd. As for Jupiter Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 74-59 victory against Greenacres Christian on the 23rd.
