Soccer Recap: Independence Takes a Loss

Independence lost against Providence back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Independence Patriots came up short against the Providence Panthers, falling 6-1. The Patriots were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 3-0.

Their goal came courtesy of Sedona Wagner, who's now up to two this season.

This is the second loss in a row for Independence and nudges their season record down to 1-3. As for Providence, their win bumped their record up to 2-4.

Coming up, Independence will look to defend their home pitch on Tuesday against East Mecklenburg at 6:00 p.m. Independence has given up an average of 2.8 goals per game this season, so hopefully the team got some defensive drills in this week. As for Providence, they have already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against Porter Ridge on the 17th.
