Basketball Recap: Humble Comes Up Short

Humble lost against King back in February and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Humble Wildcats took a 58-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of the King Panthers. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 246th, while the Panthers are ranked 82nd).

Humble has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-8 record this season. As for King, they pushed their record up to 10-7 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Humble will take on Yazoo City in a tournament on Thursday. One thing working in Yazoo City's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 11 games. As for King, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Kingwood at 1:00 p.m. on January 4, 2025. King knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Kingwood likes a good challenge.
