Baseball Recap: Jenkintown Sets Scoring Season-High Against Church Farm

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Jenkintown). They came out on top against the Church Farm Griffens by a score of 14-11 on Monday. The Drakes haven't had any issues with the Griffens recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Nick Sulock made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Sulock was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple was his first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kyle Vnenchak, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Grayson Duffey, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.

Jenkintown's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-10. As for Church Farm, they are on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Jenkintown is set to challenge their familiar foe Calvary Christian Academy at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The timing isn't great for the Drakes: they have been struggling with eight straight losses at home dating back to last season, while the Cougars have snatched up four consecutive wins on the road. Meanwhile, Church Farm will square off against rival Dock Mennonite at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
