            Baseball Recap: Dowagiac Chieftains vs. Brandywine Bobcats        
        
		
        
        
            Dowagiac's last matchup with Brandywine could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's  game on Tuesday. The Chieftains came up short against  the Bobcats, falling  9-3. The Chieftains haven't had much luck with the Bobcats recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.
 Kaleb Smith was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he  tossed four innings while giving up just one earned  (and five unearned) runs off   four  hits. That's the fewest  hits  he has allowed since back in March. He was also big at the plate,  getting on base  in three of his four plate appearances with one  run.
 Smith wasn't  the only one making solid contact as  five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was  Jamal Williams, who  went 1-for-3 with one  stolen base, one  run,  and one  RBI.
Dowagiac's defeat dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Brandywine, the  victory was  the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 13-7.
 Coming up, Dowagiac will venture away from home to  square off against Berrien Springs  at 4:00  p.m.  on Tuesday. The Chieftains are facing the Shamrocks at the right time seeing as the Shamrocks are stuck on  a  three-game losing streak. As for Brandywine, they will be playing at home against South Haven  at 4:15  p.m.  on Thursday.
