Baseball Recap: Harper Creek's Undefeated Season over After Six Games

The Harper Creek Beavers didn't have quite enough to beat the Williamston Hornets on Thursday and fell 4-2. The loss was the Beavers' first of the season.

Finn Mahoney was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched six innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits.

At the plate, Harper Creek saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Braxton Liss, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Liss has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Blake Wagner also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Harper Creek fell to 4-1-1. As for Williamston, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-1.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Hornets beat Harper Creek by a score of 3-2 later that day.
