Baseball Recap: Penney Comes Up Short

Penney extended their losing streak to seven on Monday, dropping them down to 4-11. They came up short against the Lathrop Mules, falling 16-5. The Hornets were not able to make up for their loss to the Mules from their previous meeting back in April of 2025.

As for Lathrop, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. Considering they have won seven games by more than nine runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

For Lathrop's part, Remi Wolfe was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. The Mules are 6-1 when Wolfe posts two or more runs, but 5-6 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremiah Hinkle, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Penney will face off against North Platte at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lathrop, they will be playing at home against South Nodaway at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
