Recap: Olentangy Braves vs. Marysville Monarchs
Olentangy had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 28.7 points), and they went ahead and made it four two weeks ago. They came out on top against Marysville by a score of 39-29. Given Olentangy's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio football rankings (they are ranked 18th, while Marysville is ranked 138th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Ethan Grunkemeyer was his usual excellent self, throwing for 412 yards and four touchdowns while completing 71.1% of his passes, and also punching in a touchdown on the ground. Grunkemeyer hasn't dropped below 300 passing yards for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Andrew Leech, who picked up 92 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from JJ Henry, who rushed for 78 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries.
Olentangy's win bumped their record up to 10-1. As for Marysville, their loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 4-7.
The Olentangy Braves will take on the Dublin Jerome Celtics at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty point totals in their previous games. As for the Marysville Monarchs, they will head out on the road to face off against the Olentangy Berlin Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Olentangy Berlin will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each match than the last.
