Everything went their way against the Lawrence Tigers on Thursday as they made off with a 17-2 victory. The win was some much needed relief for the Blackhawks as it spelled an end to their ten-game losing streak.
Ariel Latchaw made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Those six strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lily Achterhof, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Marynn Winne was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Fennville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .692. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
