Soccer Recap: Southwestern Randolph Comes Up Short

The Southwestern Randolph Cougars lost 8-1 to the Asheboro Hybrid Academy Warriors on Thursday. Things were pretty much settled by the half as Southwestern Randolph were already down 5-1.

Their goal came courtesy of Ashlynn Harbor, who's now up to 22 this season.

Southwestern Randolph has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 13 goals over those five games. As for Asheboro Hybrid Academy, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-6.

Looking ahead, Southwestern Randolph will take on Uwharrie Charter Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Uwharrie Charter Academy will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something Southwestern Randolph surely won't give up without a fight. As for Asheboro Hybrid Academy, they didn't take long to hit the pitch again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 win against Cresset Christian Academy on the 2nd.
