Atwater posted their closest win since December 4, 2024 on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 46-43 victory over the Buhach Colony Thunder. Given the Falcons' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 199th, while the Thunder are ranked 759th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Several Thunder players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Elijah Garza, who went 6-for-15 on his way to 15 points and three steals. The dominant performance also gave Garza a new career-high in blocks (two). Another player making a difference was Carter Chapman, who posted 14 points and six rebounds.

Atwater's win bumped their record up to 22-6. As for Buhach Colony, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 11 matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 10-17 record this season.

Atwater has already played their next game, a 74-44 loss against Antelope on the 19th. Buhach Colony does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
