Recap: Merino Rams vs. McClave Cardinals
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only the Merino Rams walked away with it. They snuck past McClave with a 16-12 victory on Saturday. Winning may never get old, but Merino sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Coen Schmidt was his usual excellent self, rushing for 138 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.6 yards per carry, and also throwing for 135 yards and a touchdown while completing 81.8% of his passes. Schmidt was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 61 yards.
Despite the loss, McClave still got an impressive performance from Gavin Tempel, who rushed for 106 yards and two touchdowns.
Merino is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-5 record this season. As for McClave, their loss dropped their record down to 7-3.
Merino will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Simla at 1:00 p.m. on November 11th. One thing working in Simla's favor is that they have now posted big point totals every time they've taken the field this season. McClave does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
