Baseball Game Preview: Chaparral Pumas vs. Temecula Valley Golden Bears

For the second straight game, Chaparral will face off against Temecula Valley. The Pumas will welcome the Golden Bears at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Chaparral's pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so Temecula Valley's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Chaparral is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Temecula Valley just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Monday. They took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Golden Bears. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Pumas couldn't push the score so high this time.

For Temecula Valley's part, Chase Hilt was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits (and not a single walk). Hilt has become a key player for Temecula Valley: the team is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-7 otherwise. Hilt was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Isiah Rauseo was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Ryan Recio was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Temecula Valley's win bumped their record up to 9-7. As for Chaparral, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 11-4.
