Basketball Game Preview: Oglethorpe County Patriots vs. Elbert County Blue Devils

Oglethorpe County is 2-8 against Elbert County since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Patriots will head out to challenge the Blue Devils at 7:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

On Wednesday, Oglethorpe County had to suffer through a 69-37 loss at the hands of Athens Academy. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 303rd, while the Spartans are ranked 33rd).

Meanwhile, Elbert County suffered their biggest defeat since December 27, 2025 on Thursday. They took a blow against Providence Christian Academy, falling 70-40.

Oglethorpe County's loss dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Elbert County, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-7.

Oglethorpe County was taken down by Elbert County 69-42 in their previous meeting back in January of 2025. Can the Patriots avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
