Basketball Game Preview: Lincoln Southeast Knights vs. Marian Crusaders

The Lincoln Southeast Knights will square off against the Marian Crusaders at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Lincoln Southeast is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Papillion-LaVista on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Lincoln Southeast was dealt an 85-48 loss at the hands of Papillion-LaVista. The Knights were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 37-17.

Lincoln Southwest typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday Marian proved too difficult a challenge. They came out on top against the Silver Hawks by a score of 53-45. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Crusaders' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 61st, while the Silver Hawks are ranked 16th).

Marian is also on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.5 points per game. As for Lincoln Southeast, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season.

Lincoln Southeast beat Marian 50-41 in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lincoln Southeast since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
