Pacifica faced Canyon in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Mariners fell just short of the Comanches by a score of 5-4. The Mariners' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Catherine Benitez and Arianna Salas stepped up to the plate in a big way. Benitez went 1-for-2 with one home run, while Salas went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Benitez also put up a run, which was her first of the season.

Pacifica's loss dropped their record down to 15-9. As for Canyon, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-8.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Pacifica will square off against rival El Modena at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Mariners 2.8, the Vanguards 2.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
