Basketball Game Preview: Pershing County Mustangs vs. Smith Valley Bulldogs

After both having extra time off, the Pershing County Mustangs and the Smith Valley Bulldogs will shake off the cobwebs and face off against one another at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Friday, the stars were shining brightly for Pershing County in a 63-44 victory over Sierra Lutheran. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Mustangs.

Meanwhile, Smith Valley had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.6 points) and they went ahead and made it six two weeks ago. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Falcons 71-44. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 27 points or more this season.

Pershing County's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-6. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.7 points per game. As for Smith Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 8-1.
