Buchanan not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since September 6, 2024 (when they won 61-6). They were the clear victors by a 31-6 margin over the Kennedy Thunderbirds. Given the Bears' advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 91st, while the Thunderbirds are ranked 201st) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Buchanan's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tommy Devany, who threw for 138 yards and three TDs. Carvel Wafer helped Devany out on the ground, picking up 59 receiving yards and one score.
