Softball Recap: Payson Comes Up Short

Payson managed to slip by Show Low the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Longhorns came up short against the Cougars on Thursday, falling 20-2. Having soared to a lofty 22 runs in the game before, the Longhorns couldn't push the score so high this time.

Payson's loss dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Show Low, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Payson will welcome ALA - Ironwood at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Show Low, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Florence at 6:00 p.m. The timing is sure in the Cougars' favor as the team sits on four straight wins at home while the Gophers have been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
