Soccer Game Preview: Anacortes vs. Meridian

The Anacortes Seahawks will head out on the road to square off against the Meridian Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Anacortes is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to five goals on Saturday, they were much more limited against Sedro-Woolley on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Cubs by a score of 2-1.

Meanwhile, Meridian hadn't done well against Squalicum recently (they were 0-6-1 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Trojans had just enough and edged out the Storm 3-2. The win was all the more spectacular given Meridian's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington soccer rankings (they are ranked 164th, while Squalicum are ranked 44th).

The victory (which was Meridian's third in a row) raised their record to 6-6-3. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored nine goals over those three matches. As for Anacortes, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-5-2.
