Softball Recap: Williamsburg Starts Season with Win Against Fayetteville-Perry

Williamsburg took care of business in their home opener on Saturday. They walked away with an 11-8 win over the Fayetteville-Perry Rockets. The Wildcats have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Rockets, too.

Alyssa Vearil spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and three unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up seven Ks. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, Kaylynn Anderkin was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kaityln Pollitt, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Williamsburg beat Fayetteville-Perry by a score of 8-2 later that day.
