Softball Recap: High Island Cardinals vs. Brookeland Wildcats

High Island and Brookeland squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but sadly High Island had to settle for second. They suffered a rough 26-0 loss at the hands of the Brookeland Wildcats. The defeat means High Island is still on the hunt for the season's first 'W'.

For Brookeland's part, Laney Shepherd made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Shepherd was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and a triple.

In other batting news, Brookeland let Paige Powell and Elisabeth Lundquist loose on the outfield.
