Basketball Recap: Crosby's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Crosby can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They took down the West Fork Gators 58-43. The Cougars pushed the score to 51-30 by the end of the third, a deficit the Gators cut but never quite recovered from.

Crosby's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lamaya Clark, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 boards. Clark continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Jasmine Zapata was another key player, going 6 for 15 on her way to 14 points and seven rebounds.

Crosby smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 34 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in November of 2023.

Despite the loss, West Fork saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Nadia Camacho went 7 of 11 on her way to 27 points. Those 27 points set a new season-high mark for Camacho. The team also got some help courtesy of Saniah White, who posted eight points and three steals.

Crosby's victory bumped their record up to 12-14. As for West Fork, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-15 record this season.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Dayton the next time they take the court. Crosby will head out to face Dayton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while West Fork will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on January 14th.
