Baseball Recap: Edgar Picks Up Sixth Straight Win at Home

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Edgar). They never let the Assumption Royals get on the board and left with a 14-0 win on Monday. Considering the Wildcats have won five games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Jase Apfelbeck was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Edgar is undefeated when he allows at most two earned runs, but 1-2 otherwise. Apfelbeck was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Fletcher Weiland, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucas Stahnke, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Edgar lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Edgar's victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.2 runs over those games. As for Assumption, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.

Edgar will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Royals: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
