Baseball Recap: Polytech Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Polytech, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Sussex Academy Seahawks 10-9. That's more bragging rights for the Panthers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

The team relied heavily on Hermes Rodriguez, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 5-for-6. He also brought in three RBI, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was William Harvey, who went 2-for-7 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Rodriguez wasn't the only one making solid contact: Polytech kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive matchups.

Polytech now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Sussex Academy, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Looking ahead, Polytech will face off against Delmarva Christian at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Sussex Academy, they will head out to face off against Conrad Science at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday.
