Baseball Recap: Greenville H Takes a Loss

If Greenville H was riding high fresh off their 15-5 takedown of Blacksburg on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Greenville H Hurricanes fell just short of the Asheville Christian Academy Lions by a score of 7-6 on Tuesday. The loss continues a trend for the Hurricanes in their meetings with the Lions: they've now lost five in a row.

Greenville H got a good showing from Adam Greene, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Greene has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, JJ Nixon was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was Daniel Wackerhagen, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Greenville H suffered their first home defeat, dropping their record down to 6-5. As for Asheville Christian Academy, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-3.

Coming up, Greenville H will be playing in front of their home fans against Pickens at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Asheville Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to challenge Owen at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Owen has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.63 runs per game on average), something Asheville Christian Academy will no doubt try to take advantage of.
