Softball Game Preview: Winona Tigers vs. Calhoun City Wildcats

Winona hasn't had much luck against Calhoun City recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Tigers will venture away from home to face off against the Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. One thing working in Winona's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last five matchups.

If Winona beats Calhoun City with ten runs on Friday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. Winona didn't even let Noxubee County on the board on Thursday, marking Winona's second-straight 10-0 shutout. Winona might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by ten runs or more this season.

Calhoun City couldn't beat Vardaman on Tuesday even though they stacked seven runs on them in the third inning. The Wildcats took a 15-11 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rams.

Winona pushed their record up to 13-9 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Calhoun City, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-10.

Winona might still be hurting after the 22-10 loss they got from Calhoun City in their previous matchup back in February. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
