Volleyball Recap: Poteet Comes Up Short

Poteet lost against Melissa back in August of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Pirates lost 3-0 to the Cardinals. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Pirates have suffered since November 12, 2024.

While Poteet was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 25-22, 25-21.

Melissa was led to victory by Regan Lipsett and Kate Thompson. Lipsett had eight digs, while Thompson had five digs. That's the most digs Thompson has posted over her last three matchups. Sydney Tabscott also deserves some recognition as she had her first kills of the season.

This is the second loss in a row for Poteet and nudges their season record down to 12-9. As for Melissa, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-7.

Looking ahead, Poteet will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Horn at 6:30 p.m. As for Melissa, they will take on V.R. Eaton in a tournament on Friday.
