Softball Recap: Central Wins High-Profile Contest Against Clovis North

Central faced Clovis North in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Grizzlies' pitcher stepped up to hand the Broncos a 3-0 shutout. Three seems to be a good number for the Grizzlies as the team scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Not much got past Kaia Galaviz, who gave up just four hits and racked up eight Ks to keep Clovis North off the board. Galaviz has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Central's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Ella Bakholdin, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Kalena Olmos was another, going 1-for-2 with one triple and one run.

Central's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-1-1. As for Clovis North, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-4-1.

Coming up, Central will take on Sanger in a tournament on Monday. As for Clovis North, they will face off against Edison at 9:00 a.m. on Monday. The Broncos will need to watch out since the Tigers have now posted at least ten runs in their last four contests.
