The Gray Collegiate Academy War Eagles will head out to challenge the Cheraw Braves at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Gray Collegiate Academy had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Dreher on Monday. The War Eagles blew past the Blue Devils 11-1.

Cameron Southern made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one home run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on JP Sweatt, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Zeb Taylor, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one run.
Gray Collegiate Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .522. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Cheraw had already won nine in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.4 runs) and they went ahead and made it ten on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over the Falcons.
Cheraw got a big performance out of Will Quick, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. Brayden Michael was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Cheraw pushed their record up to 20-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Gray Collegiate Academy, their record now sits at 13-10.
Gray Collegiate Academy skirted past Cheraw 8-6 when the teams last played back in March of 2015. Do the War Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Braves turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
