Basketball Recap: Elba Comes Up Short

Elba extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 18 on Tuesday, dropping them down to 0-12. They took a blow against the Nebraska Christian Eagles, falling 54-21. If the Bluejays were looking for revenge after losing 63-12 to the Eagles when the teams met back in January of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Elba's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Bladen Rathman, who posted seven points and six boards, and Garrett Wells, who had four points and six steals.

As for Nebraska Christian, they moved to 2-9 with that win, which also ended their nine-game losing streak. They not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since January 14, 2025 (when they won 63-12).

Nebraska Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jackson Rexilius, who shot 50% from the field en route to 12 points and eight steals. Those eight steals gave Rexilius a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Luke Powell, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Coming up, Elba will host Cedar Bluffs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Nebraska Christian, they will be taking part in a tournament against Central Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
