Basketball Recap: American Heritage Falls Despite Big Games from Emily Remis and Joslyn Klein

American Heritage lost against Pine Crest back in November of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The American Heritage Stallions lost 69-45 to the Pine Crest Panthers. While losing is never fun, the Stallions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 386th, while the Panthers are ranked 85th).

Despite the loss, American Heritage had strong showings from Joslyn Klein, who posted 20 points, and Emily Remis, who had 12 points. The dominant performance gave Klein a new career-high in points.

Pine Crest's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Franky Garfi led the charge by dropping a double-double on 24 points and 14 rebounds. Garfi continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Isabella Sangha, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten boards.

American Heritage has been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 11 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season. As for Pine Crest, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-3.

American Heritage wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 59-35 win against Donna Klein Jewish Academy on the 21st. As for Pine Crest, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 66-31 victory against West Boca Raton on the 16th.
