Softball Recap: Wednesday's Win Is West Geauga's Sixth in Last Seven Outings

After losing to Kenston the last time they met, West Geauga decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Wolverines blew past the Bombers 14-5 on Wednesday. Considering the Wolverines have won six games by more than eight runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Lely Percassi made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Percassi was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs.

In other batting news, West Geauga got a massive performance out of Michaela Platt, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Those two hits gave Platt a new career-high. Dayana Malone was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run.

West Geauga was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .577. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

West Geauga is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.4 runs over those games. As for Kenston, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-7.

Looking ahead, West Geauga will challenge Geneva at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Wolverines' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season. As for Kenston, they will square off against Kirtland at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
