Volleyball Recap: Melrose Red Raiders vs. Burlington Red Devils

Melrose was the 3-0 winner over Burlington when they last played one another back in October of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Red Raiders took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Red Devils on Thursday. The Red Raiders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Melrose started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 22-25, 25-19, 25-19, 25-16.

Sabine Wenzel paced Melrose's offense, picking up 17 kills. Wenzel got some help from Sadie Smith and her 23 assists.

Burlington found their leader in sophomore Lexie Carmody, who had 17 digs and one assist. Carmody has been hot recently, having posted 17 or more digs the last three times she's played.

Melrose's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Burlington, their win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-1.
