Basketball Recap: Ursuline Academy Bears vs. Trinity Christian Trojans
The Ursuline Academy Bears came tearing into Friday's match with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 49-40 win over Trinity Christian. Given Ursuline Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 144th, while the Trojans are ranked 989th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Ursuline Academy had a senior duo take command as Madelyne Davis scored ten points along with five assists and three steals and Molly Davis scored nine points along with three steals. Davis hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Izzy Schroeder, who scored eight points.
Ursuline Academy is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-8 record this season. As for Trinity Christian, they are on a 14-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-19.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ursuline Academy will square off against the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Trinity Christian, they will head out on the road to challenge the Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
