Baseball Recap: Camden-Frontier Takes a Loss

Camden-Frontier extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 5-7 in the process. They came up short against the Edon Bombers, falling 12-1. That's two games in a row now that the Redskins have lost by exactly 11 runs.

As for Edon, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.6 runs over those games.

For Edon's part, Kyler Sapp made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. Sapp has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Edon is 6-1 when Sapp posts two or more runs, but 3-5 otherwise.

In other batting news, Braedyn Wehrle was a standout: he went 1-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Christian Owens was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.

Looking ahead, Camden-Frontier will square off against Tekonsha at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Edon, they will challenge Wauseon at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Indians have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.57 runs per game on average), something the Bombers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
