Recap: Manteno Panthers vs. Coal City Coalers
The Manteno Panthers lost against the Coal City Coalers back in September of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Manteno was the victim of a tough 34-14 defeat at the hands of Coal City. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Manteno in their matchups with Coal City: they've now lost seven in a row.
Manteno's loss came despite strong showings from Porter Chandler and Ashton Brazeau. Chandler picked up 122 receiving yards and a touchdown, while Brazeau picked up 89 receiving yards and a touchdown. Chandler's longest reception was for an incredible 76 yards.
Manteno now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Coal City, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 7-2.
Manteno will have plenty of time to ponder what went wrong as they've got a bye scheduled next week. After, they'll take on Wilmington at 7:00 p.m. on September 13, 2024. Wilmington is coming into the contest hot, having won their last eight games. Coal City does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
