It was a good run, but St. John Paul II Catholic unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Wednesday. They lost 16-6 to the Wickenburg Wranglers. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Lions have suffered since March 11th.

Francisco Vasquez made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in two of his three plate appearances with three stolen bases. Jonathan Martinez also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

St. John Paul II Catholic's loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 9-3. As for Wickenburg, the win got them back to even at 7-7.

Looking ahead, St. John Paul II Catholic will venture away from home to square off against Chandler Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
