Basketball Recap: Douglass Eagles vs. Chesapeake Math & IT Academy South

Even though Chesapeake Math & IT Academy South scored an imposing 56 points on Thursday, the Douglass Eagles still came out on top. Douglass walked away with a 67-56 win over the. Given Douglass' advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 91st, while the are ranked 214th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Solomon Lewis was nothing short of spectacular: he dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kwari Harvey, who scored 11 points along with five assists.

Several Chesapeake Math & IT Academy South players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Isaiah Grey, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Grey has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last eight times he's played. Auston Jackson was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.

Douglass is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. As for Chesapeake Math & IT Academy South, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-10.

Douglass will head out on the road to take on the Pumas at 8:20 p.m. on Saturday. Wise has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 817 points over their last 11 matches. As for Chesapeake Math & IT Academy South, they will face off against the Yellowjackets at TBD on Tuesday. Gwynn Park will be coming into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.
