Baseball Recap: Edwards County Gets the Win

Edwards County won the last time they faced Fairfield and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Lions sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 win over the Mules. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Lions.

Dylan Prather made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cy Nelson, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season.

Edwards County's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Fairfield, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-4.

Coming up, Fairfield will challenge Cisne at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Edwards County will be paying especially close attention to the Mules' game: after the Mules faces off against the Runnin' Lions, they'll take on Edwards County again at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
