Baseball Recap: Mcminn Central Extends Winning Streak to Three

McMinn Central proved they can win big last Saturday (they won by 11) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They won by a run and slipped past the Sweetwater Wildcats 8-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Chargers have posted against the Wildcats since May 5, 2023.

Ayden Plemons was incredible, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Garrett Wilcox, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

The win (which was McMinn Central's third in a row) raised their record to 5-2. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 9.67 hits in those games compared to only 5.25 in the others. As for Sweetwater, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-3.

McMinn Central will have a chance to go back-to-back against Sweetwater: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
