El Capitan led Grossmont - Valley in scoring this week after putting up 45 points on Del Norte. Brad Cagle threw for 292 yards and 2 touchdowns and ran for 23 yards during the win.
The Vaqueros' offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. On the ground Isaiah Capoocia chipped in 65 yards. Chris Pearson helped El Capitan's passing attack out by catching 6 balls for 95 yards.
He was 20-34 with 0 interceptions.
Capoocia was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 65 yards on 4 carries as El Capitan topped the Nighthawks. Teammate Danny Ibarra added to the ground attack by rushing for 35 yards.
Ron Burner's team's Cagle and Scott Root led the league in both passing and receiving yards. 5-11 quarterback Cagle has thrown for 2,412 yards this season, while Root has 33 catches for 819 yards. Mount Miguel's Ben Lomibao leads the league in rushing yards with 1,169.
The Vaqueros made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 748 from 1,003. The improvement was the result of a 45-21 victory over Del Norte last week.
