Basketball Game Preview: West Warwick Wizards vs. Portsmouth Patriots

The West Warwick Wizards will venture away from home to challenge the Portsmouth Patriots at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.

On Tuesday, West Warwick came up short against Chariho and fell 48-39. The Wizards have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Portsmouth faced St. Mary Academy-Bay View in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. Portsmouth walked away with a 45-35 victory over St. Mary Academy-Bay View. Winning may never get old, but the Patriots sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Portsmouth pushed their record up to 11-5 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.0 points over those games. As for West Warwick, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-12.

West Warwick came up short against Portsmouth when the teams last played back in March of 2020, falling 59-46. Can West Warwick avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
