Softball Game Preview: Fulton Pirates vs. Merrill Vandals

For the first time this season, Fulton will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They are headed away from home for the first time to square off against the Merrill Vandals at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Fulton is leaving town to face Merrill after disappointing their home crowd in their season opener. The Pirates lost 19-6 to Dansville on Tuesday. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it four in a row.

Meanwhile, Merrill was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 11th straight defeat dating back to last season. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 13-5 to Farwell, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.

Fulton might still be hurting after the 22-2 loss they got from Merrill in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Pirates avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
