Basketball Game Preview: Algona Bulldogs vs. Webster City Lynx

Algona is 8-2 against Webster City since December of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Algona Bulldogs will welcome the Webster City Lynx at 6:15 p.m. Algona will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak.

Last Tuesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Algona beat St. Edmond 64-58. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 40th, while the Gaels are ranked 222nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Webster City, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They snuck past Iowa Falls-Alden with a 48-44 win on Tuesday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Lynx as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Algona's win was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-3. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.7 points per game. As for Webster City, their victory bumped their record up to 3-13.

Everything came up roses for Algona against Webster City in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, as the squad secured a 63-35 win. Will Algona repeat their success, or does Webster City have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
